Guntur Romli Says Hasto Must Open Videos Of Corruption Officials To Avoid Hostage Politics

JAKARTA - PDI-P politician Mohamad Guntur Romli revealed that PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto has an "US card" for officials suspected of corruption so that it can change the map of eradicating corruption in Indonesia.

"These videos will be released, will be shocking, will change the map of eradicating corruption, public opinion and extraordinary. Because what will be mentioned are the names and the evidence will be astonishing," said Guntur in a video clip uploaded to the X account @Anak_Ogi.

However, the research director of Trust Indonesia, Ahmad Fadhli, said that Guntur Romli's statement was only part of his efforts to defend his leadership.

"Guntur Romli's statement was a general statement by a party cadre defending his leader, namely Hasto Kristiyanto," he said, Sunday, December 29, 2024.

According to him, Guntur's statement also did not represent PDIP institutionally. In his opinion, the case that dragged Hasto's name was a personal matter in question, not a party.

"This case is actually not an institutional PDIP case. This is a personal case of Hasto who stumbled upon the alleged bribery problem," he added.

Fadhli stated, rather than fanfare and create public opinion, it would be better if Guntur Romli asked Hasto to disclose the video to the public or be reported to law enforcers. This is so as not to create a hostage politics that will exacerbate Indonesia's democracy in the future.

"This can be seen as an attempt by Guntur Romli and Hasto to create the politics of hostages. Instead of that, dozens of videos of the ruler's corruption scandal must be opened in public spaces. Don't let these statements become threats on paper," he said.
