JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government plans to remove the Transjakarta corridor 1 service with the Blok M-Kota route. This was revealed by the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo.

Syafrin said that the Transjakarta route for Blok M-Kota will be abolished when the MRT Jakarta phase 2A service which continues the HI Roundabout route to the City has officially operational.

"For the Lebak-Bulus MRT until the city is built, then the Transjakarta corridor 1 service from Blok M to the city will be eliminated. They will be diverted to fill other service vacancies," said Syafrin, Friday, December 20.

Syafrin said that the scenario for changing mass public transportation services was included in the Jakarta transportation master plan that had been prepared for a long time. In the future, the main mode of transportation in Jakarta is rail-based public transportation.

Currently, the construction of the MRT Jakarta phase 2A is still ongoing. The MRT phase 2A line stretches for about 5.8 kilometers with six underground stations (Thamrin, Monas, Harmoni, Sawah Besar, Mangga Besar, Glodok) and one at grade (Kota) station.

"So it means that there will be several stages for adjustments to Transjakarta transportation, all of which will be feeders of rail transportation, which is the backbone of public transportation services for the people of Jakarta," he added.

Syafrin continued, Transjakarta services whose routes will be adjacent to rail-based transportation will also be diverted one by one, such as services on the MRT phase 3 corridor east-west.

"After the MRT from the tip of Menteng to Tomang was built. Then corridor 2, Pulo Gadung to Harmoni, as well as corridor 3 which reached Harmoni to Kalideres, this will be done some kind of re-routing," said Syafrin.

"But the whole thing will be gradual to do after the mass public transport network is expected to be its backbone. It is well available and fully integrated," he added.

Likewise with Microtrans or city transportation (angkot) services on the Jak Lingko system. Currently, when transportation on the main network is not adequate, Microtrans transportation directly enters the main corridor.

But after the main corridor is well built, the Microtrans routes will only serve the fins of the route.

"For example, now there is a Jak10 Microtrans service. From the city to Tanah Abang. Later, after the MRT is built to the City, the service will not be carried out directly into the Gajah Mada-Hayam Wuruk area, but will be diverted. So this whole thing will be adjusted gradually," said Syafrin.
