Regarding Police Shooting Students In Semarang, Kompolnas Letters To President Urges Police Senpi Evaluation

The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) sent a letter to President Prabowo Subianto containing suggestions regarding the evaluation of the use of firearms (senpi) by Police personnel.

Kompolnas member Muhammad Choirul Anam said the letter was sent as a recommendation from Kompolnas for the case of personnel using firearms irresponsiblely, such as the police shooting police case at the South Solok Police and police shooting students in Semarang, Central Java.

"We have formulated wise suggestions for the phenomenon of the use of firearms. We addressed this wise suggestion to the President with a paradigm that it is necessary to evaluate policies on the use of weapons that must be more humane," he said in Jakarta, Friday, quoted by Antara.

He explained that the purpose of the humanist approach was related to using non-lethal weapons in handling cases, such as tasers.

"This includes psychological services for mental health. Actually, about a humanist approach, this is not only the attention of Kompolnas, actually the attention of the National Police Chief is also from the National Police Chief General Pol. Listyo Sigit Prabowo," he said.

He also reminded the police personnel to prioritize a humanist approach in carrying out their duties.

"When doing one police activity, especially those related to the community, the humanist perspective and approach are used," he said.
