Two Private Smelter Bosses Sued 14 Years In Prison In A Tin Corruption Case

JAKARTA - Two high-ranking private smelters were charged with imprisonment for 14 years each related to the alleged corruption case in the management of tin commodity trading in the mining business permit (IUP) area of PT Timah Tbk. 2015 2022 so that it cost the state finances Rp300 trillion.

The two high-ranking officials are the Beneficiary Owner of PT Stanindo Inti Perkasa (SIP) Suwito Gunawan alias Awi and Director of PT Sarijuna Binasentosa (SBS) Robert Indarto.

"We demand that the two defendants be legally and convincingly proven guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption and money laundering," said Public Prosecutor (JPU) of the Attorney General's Office (AGO) Wazir Iman Supriyanto in a trial reading the indictment at the Jakarta Corruption Court, reported by ANTARA, Monday, December 9.

In addition to imprisonment, the two defendants were also demanded to be subject to a fine, each amounting to Rp1 billion, subsidiary to imprisonment for one year and additional punishment in the form of payment of replacement money for a subsidiary of eight years each.

The prosecutor said Suwito was required to pay compensation of Rp2.2 trillion, while Robert was Rp1.92 trillion.

In the same trial, there was also General Manager of OperationalPT Tinindo Inter Nusa (TIN) for the 2017-2020 period, Rosalina, who was also read out by her letter of demand. Even though she was involved in the case, Rosalina was considered not to have received money and did not do money.

Rosalina was charged with imprisonment for six years and a fine of Rp. 750 million, subsidiary to imprisonment for six months.

Previously, Suwito and Robert were charged with receiving Rp4.1 trillion in cash and laundering money related to the alleged corruption case in the management of tin commodity trading in the mining business permit (IUP) area of PT Timah Tbk. 2015 2022 so that it cost the state Rp300 trillion.

Suwito is suspected of enriching himself by Rp2.2 trillion, while Robert received Rp1.9 trillion in that case.
