JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) Hariqo Wibawa Satria stated that the status of the State Mosque, which has been intercepted by the Istiqlal Mosque, Jakarta, will be transferred to a government mosque which is currently being established in the capital city of the archipelago (IKN).

"Currently the Istiqlal Mosque is the State Mosque, and with the relocation of the State Capital to the Archipelago so that the mosque in IKN becomes the State Mosque," reads a press statement delivered by Hariqo quoting Antara.

Hariqo said that the State Mosque is a mosque located in the capital city of Indonesia and is the center of state-level religious activities.

According to him, the mosque in IKN will function as a center for social and spiritual activities that are inclusive for all Indonesian people.

The State Mosque in IKN, said Hariqo, is currently entering its early stages of construction. The building is designed to accommodate up to 60,000 worshipers, with the initial stage capable of holding 29,000 worshipers.

The first phase of construction includes the main building of a mosque with four floors, two mezzanine floors, and a two-story courtyard for multipurpose and parking areas.

This mosque is built on an area of 32,125 square meters, with a total building area of 60,173 square meters, including plazas, mosque towers, commercial buildings, and other supporting facilities.

"This mosque will coexist in the center of worship area with other places of worship, such as churches, temples, monasteries, pagodas and Basilica Nusantara Santo Francis Xaverius, which is the first basilica in Indonesia," he said.

For President Prabowo Subianto, said Hariqo, mosques in IKN are expected to further maximize their role in increasing tolerance between religious communities, maintaining harmony between citizens, maintaining national unity, strengthening religious moderation and improving the quality of tolerant religious education.

According to Hariqo, this is in accordance with the eighth Astacita, which is to strengthen the harmony of life with the environment, nature and culture, as well as increase tolerance between religious believers to achieve a just and prosperous society.

"This step proves the commitment of President Prabowo Subianto's government to continue the development of IKN as well as provide adequate and representative worship facilities for all Indonesian people, according to the Vision of Advanced Indonesia," he said.
