Nawawi Pomolango Says KPK Has Not Yet Decided To Give Assistance To Firli Bahuri

JAKARTA - The chairman of the KPK, while Nawawi Pomolango, said that his party had not yet decided to provide legal assistance to the inactive KPK chairman Firli Bahuri regarding the alleged extortion case against former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo alias SYL. Nawawi emphasized that his party would discuss the possibility of providing legal assistance at the KPK leadership meeting. "At this stage, this (law assistance) includes material that we will discuss with others, whether it is necessary for us to assist or we provide legal assistance, or it is enough that the Presidential Decree will temporarily suspend the person concerned,” said Nawawi after taking the oath of office as Chairman of the KPK temporarily at the State Palace, Jakarta, Antara, Monday, November 27. Firli Bahuri was temporarily dismissed from the position of Chairman of the KPK through Presidential Decree No. 116 of 2023, dated November 24, 2023. Along with the letter, the President also appointed KPK Deputy Chair Nawawi Pomolango as Chairman of the KPK to temporarily replace Firli.

Furthermore, regarding the case that happened to Firli, Nawawi said that until now he had not heard directly from the police regarding the planned investigation that would be carried out on him and other KPK leaders. So far, he has only heard this information from the mass media. “ Apart from media friends, I never knew there was a plan for an examination of the entire leader. Not yet. So far nothing, ” he explained.
