Provisional Chairman Of The KPK Nawawi Ensures That The Search For Harun Masiku Will Be A Priority

JAKARTA - The interim chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nawawi Pomolango confirmed that the settlement of a number of cases would be a priority, including the search for Harun Masiku, who is still at large.

He conveyed this after being inaugurated as the interim chairman of the KPK by President Joko widodo (Jokowi) today, Monday, November 27. He said the leadership had even signed a new search and arrest letter needed by the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK.

"All cases that are still and have such status (suspects such as Harun Masiku are still at large, red) will be a priority rather than the KPK," Nawawi told reporters at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday, November 27.

In fact, Nawawi said the head of the anti-corruption commission had asked the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Rudi Setiawan, who had just been inaugurated regarding the settlement of this case. They also questioned Harun's search commitment.

"We asked him to handle the arrest of DPO Harun Masiku, the person concerned is committed," he said.

"That's why he asked for an update of the assignment letter to find HM and that's what he did so that we have issued the new letter product needed," continued Nawawi.

As previously reported, Harun Masiku is a suspect in giving bribes to former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan is still at large today. He became a suspect for allegedly bribing him to become a member of the DPR through the interim replacement (PAW) mechanism.

He has been on the wanted list (DPO) since January 29, 2020. Most recently, the KPK informed that the National Central Bureau (NCB) of Interpol Indonesia had issued a red notice on behalf of Harun Masiku on Friday, July 30.

In carrying out this search, the KPK has collaborated with a number of parties such as the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police and the Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham).

Meanwhile, Firli Bahuri before being temporarily dismissed as Chairman of the KPK for being a suspect at Polda Metro Jaya said he had signed a search and arrest letter. The signing was carried out at the end of October.

"Three weeks ago I signed an arrest and search warrant for HM," Firli said at a press conference at the KPK's Red and White House, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Tuesday, November 14.
