Not Attending Muhammadiyah Dialogue, Gibran Is Considered Not Ready For Ideas

The absence of the vice presidential candidate (cawapres) Gibran Rakabuming Raka in a dialogue event held by Muhammadiyah Central Leadership (PP) at Muhammadiyah University Surabaya, Friday (11/24/2023) was considered a form of unpreparedness with ideas.

According to a political observer from Unair Surabaya, Airlangga Pribadi Kusman, Gibran's absence also shows the limitations of the gimmick political strategy used by the Prabowo-Gibran pair in facing the 2024 presidential election.

"As we all know that the couple used a gimmick political campaign strategy like Joget Gemoy which was spread on various social media platforms to attract voters," he said when contacted, Sunday, November 26.

Airlangga assessed that the Prabowo-Gibran campaign strategy actually had a manipulative function to divert residents regarding the various problems faced by the couple. Among other things, allegations of human rights violations, gross ethical violations in the Gibran process as a vice presidential candidate at the Constitutional Court (MK), as well as concerns about mobilizing state apparatus such as village officials for winning.

"Gibran's absence proves the defeat of ideas, and the couple's unpreparedness in accounting for what kind of ideas the couple will bring in the moment of the 2024 presidential election," he said.

Airlangga said that the 2024 presidential election contestation requires political debate ideas to ensure that Indonesia's future path remains on the path of progress of the nation and state in the future. The high political dose of gimmick will only deceive and trick public awareness that couples who use this strategy are actually not ready to manage the country with the ideas and practices of the state.
