Mahfud MD Continuates With Chinese Residents In Pontianak

PONTIANAK - Candidate for vice president (cawapres) number 2 Mohammad Mahfud Mahmodin or Mahfud MD held a gathering with the Chinese community in Pontianak City, West Kalimantan, Saturday, as part of a series of meetings for interfaith community leaders.

In the gathering which was held at the Hakka Kalbar House, Mahfud MD was accompanied by Zaizatun Nihayati, and Chairman of the Hanura Party Oesman Sapta Odang alias OSO and his wife, Serviati Oesman.

On that occasion, Mahfud emphasized that he was not campaigning, but absorbing people's aspirations.

"It's not a campaign, but the aspirations of the people we hear. As you know, there is no campaign," said Mahfud in Pontianak City, West Kalimantan, Saturday.

However, Mahfud added that there is one important thing to convey in the friendship, namely national unity and integrity.

"I myself am only campaigning for high-level politics, namely unity, harmony between various bonds. If it is a political campaign that must be carried out at any time," said Mahfud MD.

After meeting Chinese descendants in Pontianak, Mahfud continued his agenda with silaturahim with scholars and kiai as well as ethnic figures in West Kalimantan.

Furthermore, on Sunday morning (26/11), Mahfud will participate in Healthy Gymnastics activities with OSO and the people of West Kalimantan.

In this gathering, the people of Hakka Kalbar also declared their support for the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 3 Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD.

"Today, especially for Hakka people, Chinese people, this is a matter of pride; and this Hakka house is a Chinese traditional house, first used for the declaration of Ganjar-Mahfud," said Head of Hakka West Kalimantan Mulyadi.

On that occasion, Mulyadi also reminded the public not to become a white group (golput) in the 2024 Simultaneous Election.

"Especially for Chinese people, I hope and underline that there should not be a goalkeeper. We use our voice to vote on (the Simultaneous Elections) 2024. Even if it happens, it's a big day for Chinese people, but I hope to try and use our voices," said Mulyadi.
