Five Regencies Of Bali Under UMP Standards, Regional Governments Are Reminded To Improve

DENPASAR - There are five districts in Bali Province that are required to participate in the Bali UMP which is set for 2024.

Head of the Bali Manpower and Energy Agency Ida Bagus Setiawan in Denpasar, Saturday said that seeing the trend of economic growth, from nine regencies/cities, five possible UMKs were below standard.

It is known that the five districts are Karangasem, Bangli, Klungkung, Jembrana, and Buleleng, while the Bali UMP is set at Rp2,813,672, meaning from the calculation of each district of five of them under that nominal.

Setiawan has not been able to explain everything because the legalization process for the results of the new wage council calculations will be discussed on Monday (27/11) tomorrow, but one that has stated that the 2024 UMK is Jembrana, which is Rp2,763,181 because it only increases by Rp24,483.

The head of the Bali Manpower Office said that this condition must be watched out for, where the local district government must improve so that the following year it leaves this zone, because if not, it has the potential to add other districts/cities that cannot determine their own UMK.

To the media, he explained that the condition of districts/cities that cannot determine their own UMK is based on PP Number 51 of 2023, they can calculate using the existing formula but when the results are below the Bali UMP, the provincial wage is the lowest threshold.

The five districts clearly saw economic growth below the provincial average of 5.9 percent, the existence of inter-district disparities will eventually show a different UMK, such as Badung's example with economic growth of 9.97 percent while Karangasem 2.58 percent.

Based on the results of the calculation of the Bali Provincial Government's wage council, it can only encourage mediation between workers and employers later, so that companies can pay according to the UMP in the first year of work and determine the scale of wages for the following year.

After all, someone must carry out monitoring. Now this monitoring is in each district/city that issues a permit for the company. We in the province must of course be a coaching agency if there are complaints behind the facility. The hope is that there will be no disputes," said Setiawan.

Meanwhile, Deputy Regent of Jembrana I Gede Ngurah Patriana Krisna who was met at the same location admitted that the UMK had not been able to exceed the Bali UMP.

According to him, this result is appropriate for the community and entrepreneurs, and the current target is efforts to reduce the existing unemployment rate.

"We are in the middle, when we side with the company they must protest, when side with these workers it is also impossible. It's not that I say the loss means they must think how to be sustainable," said the deputy regent.
