Medan District Court Sentenced 6.5 Years 2 Dealers 0.14 Grams Of Shabu

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court (PN), North Sumatra, sentenced two defendants who were drug dealers of methamphetamine in 13 plastic clips containing 0.14 grams.

"In addition, the defendants Swaludin Nasution and Putra were fined Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison," said Chief Justice Sarma Siregar at the Medan District Court, reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 20.

From the facts of the trial, the panel of judges believed that the two defendants were proven and guilty of violating Article 114 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

The essence of the article, said Sarma, is mutual malicious conspiracy without rights or against the law, offering to sell, sell, buy, accept, become intermediaries, in buying and selling, exchanging or delivering class I narcotics in the form of non-shabu-shabu-type plants.

"The thing that burdens the two defendants does not support the government's program in eradicating drugs, while the mitigating factors between the two defendants regret their actions," he said.

The judge's decision was heavier than the demands of Public Prosecutor Pantun Marojahan Simbolon for 6.3 years and a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to three months in prison.

The indictment revealed that on July 3, 2023, Medan Police officers received information from the public that there was a drug trafficking of methamphetamine on Jalan Pasar IV, Gang Makmur, Mabar Hilir Village, Medan Deli District.

Then, the officers made the purchase by "undercover buy" with the defendant. Arriving at the location, officers arrested the two defendants.

As a result of the interrogation, the two defendants obtained the evidence from Sarup (DPO).
