MER-C Calls For United World Leaders To Stop Genocide In Gaza

JAKARTA - The Indonesian humanitarian organization Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) calls on world leaders to unite to stop genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. The call was conveyed in an open letter from MER-C Indonesia volunteers uploaded to the @merciindonesia account on social media platform X, which was monitored in Jakarta, Sunday, November 19. “ With all your strength, you can permanently open the Rafah border, and ensure humanitarian aid reaches Palestine,” read a statement in the open letter. “ With all your might, you can punish any serious offense against international humanitarian law. With all your might, you can stop another Nakba tragedy, the letter said. The letter said that based on moral awareness, no military action should be taken if the action is clearly detrimental to civilians, especially women and children. It was stated that on October 31 Israel had dropped a bomb in Jabaliya, a refugee-intensive camp in North Gaza, and killed 195 Palestinians and injured 777 people. Indonesian hospitals in Gaza said that they could not help all the injured victims and bodies scattered around the hospital area because the morgue could no longer accommodate all the victims who died as a result of the attack in Jabaliya. “ How many more victims should fall in order to satisfy Israel's saturation with the blood of the Palestinian people while the world sees it? How many more children and women should die so that you realize that Israel's inhumane actions in Gaza must be stopped?” said the letter.

The letter also said that history would record how world leaders who hold power in their hands act to help helpless people, and this would be a historical heritage in the future. "For the sake of humanity, please take action now! ” exclaimed the MER-C in the open letter.
