JAKARTA -The Head of the UN Agency for children's affairs, UNICEF, described the situation in the heartbreaking Gaza Strip in the midst of the deadly Israeli attacks in the surrounded Palestinian territory.

"Today I visited the Gaza Strip to meet with children, their families and UNICEF staff. What I see and hear is very heartbreaking. They have repeatedly experienced bombings, loss, and expulsion, "Unicef Executive Director Catherine Russell said in a statement reported by Antara on Wednesday, November 15.

"In that path, there is no safe place for one million Gaza children to escape," he added.

He said more than 4,600 children in the Gaza Strip were killed and nearly 9,000 were injured.

"Many children are missing and are believed to be buried under the debris of buildings and houses that collapsed, tragic results from explosive weapons attacks in densely populated areas," Russell said.

"Newborn babies who need special treatment to die in one of the Gaza Hospitals because the electricity and medical supply runs out, and the violence continues and the victims are indiscriminately," he added.

He urged the parties related to the Gaza conflict to "stop this horror."

"I once again asked all parties to ensure that children are protected and helped, in accordance with international humanity law. Only the parties related to the conflict that can really stop this horror. "

Russell also urged the parties to immediately stop violence, free all children who are kidnapped and detained, and provide safe access without obstacles to humanitarian staff to provide assistance to those in need.

Israel launched an endless air and land attack on the Gaza Strip since cross -border attacks by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas on October 7, 2023.

At least 11,320 Palestinians were killed in the attack, including nearly 7,800 women and children, while more than 29,200 others were injured, according to the latest numbers of Palestinian authorities.

Thousands of buildings, including hospitals, mosques, and churches were also damaged in Israeli attacks.

Meanwhile, around 1,200 people were killed in Israel, according to the official government.
