Panyaleukan Police Chief Kompol Kurniawan said all employees of the PT Mandiri Sejahtera Indonesia (MSI) cotton spinning factory were successfully evacuated. The factory on Jalan Cipadung, Bandung City was on fire.

"When the factory was operational, approximately 300 employees were successfully evacuated and all of them had been discharged from the factory," said Kurniawan in Bandung, Wednesday, November 15, as reported by Antara.

Until now, his party is still conducting further investigations regarding the cause of the fire that scorched the 10,000 square meter factory area.

"The cause is still under investigation, there are several witnesses who say the fire came from around the blowing machine, namely the cotton spinning place to become a thread," he said.

Head of the Bandung City Fire and Disaster Management Agency Gun Gun Sumaryana explained that his party received reports of fire incidents from the public at 11.02 WIB.

"We immediately dispatched the closest fleet to take to the field, but because the fire was quite big and in the end I and my ranks sent all the units on standby," he said.

Furthermore, he explained that officers are currently constrained in the process of extinguishing the fire due to strong winds and most of the materials from the fabric factory which resulted in the blackout process being quite hampered.

"Well, this clearly accelerates the spread of fire to various places and I saw that there were piles of yarn too. So this will definitely accelerate the spread and slow the extinguishing process," said Gun Gun.

Until now, the Bandung City Fire and Disaster Management Office has deployed 15 fleets to assist the extinguishing process in the area.
