JAKARTA - Commission I of the DPR approved General TNI Agus Subiyanto to become a candidate for the TNI Commander after undergoing a fit and proper test today.

Furthermore, General Agus' approval as TNI commander will be agreed at the DPR Plenary Meeting on November 21. It is known that General Agus Subiyanto was appointed as the sole candidate for TNI Commander in Chief to replace Admiral Yudo Margono who will enter retirement. General Agus himself was just appointed by President Joko Widodo to become Army Chief of Staff on October 25, 2023. Chairman of Commission I of the DPR Meutya Hafid said that nine factions unanimously agreed that General Agus Subiyanto was the commander of the TNI replacing Admiral Yudo Margono. The agreement was obtained after Commission I of the DPR listened to the explanation of General Agus' mission vision and carried out an in-depth investigation for approximately two hours. "Fit and proper test has lasted approximately 120 minutes or 2 hours. Various investigations have been carried out, he (General Agus) has conveyed his mission vision to the commission and finally nine factions have all agreed. This is unanimous consensus that the entire faction approved the dismissal of Pak Yudo as TNI commander also appointed Pak Agus as TNI commander," said Meutya Hafid at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday, November 13. The Golkar legislator hopes that TNI General Agus Subiyanto can bring and keep the TNI neutral in the upcoming 2024 elections. "From here, this afternoon we will also visit his private house, as one of the requirements for factual verification as well as friendship as well," explained Meutya. Only after that, General Agus Subiyanto's name will be brought into a plenary meeting to ratify all TNI commanders, Admiral Yudo Margono. To then inaugurate President Joko Widodo as TNI Commander.

"After that, we will write to the leadership of the DPR, God willing, it will be scheduled for November 21. So to be ratified in the plenary plan on November 21," he concluded.
