Can Lead Public Opinion, People Asked To Be Obytive To See Survey Results

JAKARTA Indostrategic Executive Director Ahmad Khoirul Umam admitted that the results of a survey related to the electability of presidential and vice presidential candidates could lead public opinion. Therefore, he asked the people to be objective in looking at the survey results.

Indeed, it can lead public opinion. However, the results of several different survey institutions can also confuse the public. Therefore, voters must respond objectively to survey results," he said, Sunday, November 12.

Umam explained that there were actually no problems related to the electability survey of presidential and vice presidential candidates. This is because the survey is one of the measuring tools to determine the level of election of a candidate in the community. Moreover, scientifically the methodology in conducting the survey can also be proven.

The problem, continued Umam, lies in how to conduct the survey. He gave an example, how to determine and take samples, and how to conduct interviews can affect the results of a survey.

This is what makes the results of several survey institutions different. Everything is of course valid and can be accounted for methodologically and scientifically. Therefore, the people must be wise in looking at the survey results," he explained.

Previously, the vice presidential candidate from the Change Coalition, Muhaimin Iskandar, considered that the results of the presidential and vice presidential candidates electability survey could be an effort to sway public opinion regarding the winner of the 2024 presidential election. The PKB general chairman also considered that the results of several surveys which stated that the 2024 presidential election could only run one round, including one of the efforts to lead public opinion.
