The Case Of A Father Strangling His Daughter With A Prayer Mat To Death in Mataram Awaits Prosecutor's Research

MATARAM - Mataram City Police Investigators, West Nusa Tenggara, handed over the case files carried out by a father with the initials S (42) against his biological daughter to a research prosecutor.

"We will hand over the files after all the evidence has been completed. Now we just have to wait for the results of the prosecutor's research", said Head of the Mataram Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Commissioner I Made Yogi Purusa Utama in Mataram, Antara, Friday, October 10.

In the complete file, investigators also included suspect S's motive for killing his 9-year-old biological daughter. Confirmed by the autopsy results, it turned out that S had sexually assaulted the victim.

"The autopsy results stated that there was an injury caused by a blunt object to the victim's genitals", he said.

The wound did not reach the bottom. This means that the forensic team concluded that there was no act of sexual intercourse. "So it was limited to harassment, there was no sexual intercourse", he said.

Yogi said that the suspect had admitted that he had killed because he was annoyed with the victim who wanted to report the abuse. The suspect committed the act of harassment while bathing the victim.

"While bathing, the suspect carried out the action (harassment). Then the victim wanted to report it to his uncle. The suspect became furious, admitting that he was blinded by the victim's abuse", he said.

Yogi also said that a number of bruises on the victim's body were part of the act of assaulting the suspect. This is in line with the suspect's confession that he hit the victim's head against the wall and strangled his biological child's neck with a prayer mat.

"Such actions caused the victim to die, blocking the flow of oxygen to the lungs and brain", said Yogi.

Apart from the autopsy results, other corroborating evidence was obtained from the testimony of the victim's younger sibling who was 8 years old. The victim's sister caught the suspect abusing the victim.

"So, in the completeness of the file, we have included the testimony of the victim's younger brother. He is the key witness to the suspect's actions", he said.

By finding the motive and evidence in this case, investigators named S as a suspect by applying the allegations of Article 80 in conjunction with Article 76 letters c, d and e of Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection.
