No Refugee Tents, Hundreds Of New Johar Residents Of Fire Victims Are Given Ready-to-eat Food Without Refugee Tents

JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Social Service Sub-dept. provides ready-to-eat food assistance to hundreds of residents of RT 02, 07 and 08 in RW 01, Jalan Galur Selatan, Galur Village, Johar Baru District who were affected by the fire.

"There are 320 boxes of ready-to-eat food given to refugees affected by the fire," said Head of the Central Jakarta Social Sub-dept. Abdul Salam when confirmed by VOI, Wednesday, November 8.

Meanwhile, the Central Jakarta Social Sub-Department has not yet set up a refugee camp post around the fire site because there is no request from the local village.

"There is no application for refugee tents from the village yet," he said.

The other assistance provided by the Social Sub-Department to residents affected by the fire was in the form of mattresses, mukena, towels, blankets, prayer mats, collar shirts, negligee, women's and men's underwear, baby pampers, toothpaste and brushes.

Meanwhile, the Head of Johar Baru Sub-district, Nurhelmi Safitri, said that the total number of residents affected by the fire was 71 families with 257 people.

"Residents affected by the fire were evacuated to the Darul Falah Mosque and the RW 01 residents' hall. Assistance has also arrived," he added.

As is known, residential areas on Jalan Baladewa, Galur Village, Johar Baru District, Central Jakarta were scorched by fire on Monday, November 6, evening. The fire continued to burn and spread since 19.10 WIB.

"What caught fire was residential areas, residential houses," said Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Asril Rizal to VOI, Monday, November 6, evening.

The fire scorched at least 41 houses. The cause of the fire is suspected to be a leak of a gas stove that spread to other buildings. This fire is still under investigation by the Johar Baru Police.
