600 Irish Academy Calls For Broken Campuses Link To Israel

JAKARTA - 600 academics have asked universities in Ireland to cut ties with Israeli institutions due to "scales and atrocities of Israel's war in the Gaza Strip past the level of violence ever existed during Israel's prolonged and brutal occupation of Palestine".

The letter, which was signed by academics in and from Ireland, and reported by Irish Times on Saturday condemned Israel's attacks on Gaza as "ethnic cleansing operations and according to many experts it is considered genocide violence."

The letter said many Irish universities and research projects financed by the European Union were actively collaborating with Israeli universities.

"We call on all universities in Ireland to immediately break an institutional partnership or affiliation with the existing Israeli institution," they wrote in the letter.

"The cooperation must be stopped until the occupation in the Palestinian territories is ended, the right of Palestinians to equality and self-determination is realized, and the right of Palestinian refugees to be facilitated again."

The letter also stated that "The Palestinian armed group attack on October 7 included criminal attacks on civilians."

"However, under any circumstances, international law does not allow systematic bombardment and collective punishment for civilians in the trapped occupied territories."

"The inhumanian language and mystery widely used by Israeli leaders for Palestinian society reflects things usually related to incitement and genocide intentions," the letter said.

The letter underlined that more than 3,700 children were killed by Israeli bombings that exceeded the "yearly number of children killed in a combined armed conflict in the world."

"Many Palestinians died due to a shortage of fuel, water, electricity and medicine due to an intentional blockade."

"Hospitals in Gaza are barely functioning because there is no electricity for ventilators, using vinegar for antiseptics, operating without anesthesia, and continue to be bombarded by Israel. This situation is very inhumane."

The academics continued that "the leading Holocaust experts and genocide in Jews and Israel refer to this as a case of genocide as known in textbooks. Bosnian genocidal experts also stated that what is happening in Gaza is genocide.

The letter also expressed concern about the destruction of a number of Palestinian universities in Gaza, and the deaths of academics and their students.

According to them, the current atrocities in Gaza have added to the occupation and occupation of Israel for 75 years on Palestinian soil. In a state like this, no one is able to live a normal life, they wrote in the letter.
