Densus 88 Detachment 2 JAD Terrorists Who Plan To Fail The 2024 Election

JAKARTA - The National Police's Anti-terror Detachment 88 has arrested two terrorism suspects from the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) network led by Abu Oemar. They plan to thwart the 2024 General Election (Pemilu).

"There are an additional 2 people that we have just made arrests related to the AO network that plans to thwart or interfere with the democratic party," Densus 88 Anti-terror Spokesperson Kombes Aswin Siregar told reporters, Friday, November 3.

The two terrorist suspects had the initials AH alias AM and DAM. They were arrested in West Java, on Wednesday, November 1.

From the results of the deepening, the two of them joined the Whatsapp group under the names of the United Muslim Group and the Wasathan Ummatan.

The members of the short message application group often share content defending ISIS and acts that contain elements of criminal acts of terrorism.

"The contents of the group are to talk about the spirit, enthusiasm or encouragement for activities that actually intersect with actions or violate criminal acts of terrorism, such as sharing to share or sharing material from the Islamic State group," he said.

In addition, both of them are also actively raising funds for their group activities. In fact, holding discussions to develop plans to thwart the election.

With this arrest, a total of 42 JAD terrorist suspects have been arrested. Because, previously 40 suspects had been arrested during October 2023.

In detail, 23 of them were arrested in West Java, 11 were arrested in DKI Jakarta, and six in Central Sulawesi.
