World Bank Team Review Potential Seaweed In Nunukan

TANJUNG SELOR - The World Bank team visited North Kalimantan Province (Kaltara), to explore the cooperation plan with the Kaltara Provincial Order (Pemprov).

Head of the North Kalimantan Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Service (DKP), Rukhi Syayahdin, said that one of the fisheries potentials that was directly reviewed by the Country Director for Indonesia and Timor Leste, Satu Kahkonen and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) team, namely Seaweed cultivation in Nunukan Regency.

"They were very impressed with the warm welcome from the Kaltara Provincial Government," said Head of the North Kalimantan DKP, Rukhi Syayahdin, Thursday, November 2.

In addition to reviewing the location of seaweed cultivation in Mamolo waters, he also saw the harvest process to drying and had direct discussions with the Seaweed Farmers' Representatives in Mamolo Waters.

"The World Bank also visited the local-scale plastic waste recycling site (Bank Sampah) assisted by PT. Pertamina Persero and the Nunukan Regency Government," he said.

There, it is shown how to convert plastic waste such as used bottles into buoys and cubic wood for dried floor raw materials.

"The purpose of the team's visit from World Bank is to find out the conditions of seaweed cultivation activities in Kaltara, especially Nunukan and coordinate with the Regional Government, both the Provincial Government and the Regency Government to explore activities that can be carried out together with the World Bank," concluded Rukhi.
