Malaysian Motorbike Carrying 20 Kg Of Meth In Tea Packets Arrested By TNI In West Kalimantan Border Area

WEST KALIMANTAN - 20 kilograms (kg) of methamphetamine that a man with the initials DS (38) wanted to smuggle across the Indonesia-Malaysia border was thwarted by Soldiers from Task Force Yonarmed 10/Bradjamusti and Koramil 1206-18/Puring Kencana.

"The 20 kilograms of methamphetamine was brought directly by a man from Malaysia using a motorbike on the rat route in the border area," said Head of Information for Kodam XII/Tanjungpura Colonel Inf Ade Rizal Muharram, in Pontianak, West Kalimantan (Kalbar), Tuesday 31 October, as quoted by Antara.

Ade explained that the perpetrator DS was arrested while passing by the Dalduk Sei Mawang Post, Puring Kencana District, Kapuas Hulu Regency, West Kalimantan, Monday 30 October.

The perpetrator was passing by using a motorbike with a Malaysian police number plate (nopol). During the inspection, it turned out that the perpetrator was carrying a bag containing methamphetamine, packed in 20 packets of tea.

"The perpetrator was immediately arrested with evidence of 20 kilograms of methamphetamine," he said.

According to him, the perpetrator and the methamphetamine evidence are currently on their way to Pontianak City which is being closely guarded by TNI soldiers, to be handed over to the West Kalimantan Province National Narcotics Agency (BNN) for further legal proceedings.

To date, 15 cases of drug smuggling or a total of almost 80 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine with a value of approximately IDR 96 billion have been secured and on average they have been uncovered along the border routes in the West Kalimantan region, starting from Entikong, Aruk to the border area in Kapuas Hulu, the easternmost area of West Kalimantan.
