JAKARTA - The Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection through the Women and Children Protection Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD PPA) of South Sumatra Province continues to oversee the handling of cases of Islamic boarding school students who suffered burns in Palembang.

"The South Sumatra PPA UPTD has scheduled to summon the Islamic boarding school on October 31," said Deputy for Child Special Protection at the Ministry of PPPA Nahar as reported by ANTARA, Friday, October 27.

Nahar said the health condition of the victim is currently still in the process of recovering burns.

Meanwhile, further psychologist assistance is scheduled for November 1, 2023.

"Funding for advanced psychologists is scheduled for November 1," said Nahar.

Previously, a student with the initials R (16) at a boarding school in Palembang, suffered burns to his legs and hands while he was asleep.

The victim suspected that he was burned by his fellow students.

However, the Islamic boarding school foundation denied it, and said the incident was caused by the burning mosquito medicine used by the victim.

In this case, investigators from the Palembang Polrestabes have questioned eight children, both as witnesses and as victims.

Meanwhile, regarding the suspicion that the victim was burned by his friend, the police are still investigating.
