MAKASSAR - The Election Organizers Honorary Council (DKPP) in its decision letter Number 108 -PKE-DKPP/VIII/2023 decided to impose sanctions on four commissioners of the Makassar City General Election Commission (KPU) in the aftermath of the dismissal of eight PPS (voting Committee) Tamalate.

The commissioners of the Makassar City KPU are Muh faridl Wajdi, Endang sari, M Gunawan Mashar and Abdul Rahman. The four of them received warning sanctions from the DKPP.

"Four commissioners of the Makassar City KPU were declared to have violated the code of ethics and were sanctioned by the Indonesian DKPP," said Tri Sasro Amsir as the attorney for eight PPS Tamalate as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 26.

DKPP has held a trial to read the verdict at the DKPP RI Office and was carried out online which was attended by the complainants (eight PPS Tamalate together with their attorneys). From the results of the trial, a Decree was issued.

Tri said the sanctions imposed on the four commissioners of the Makassar City KPU were due to their actions for violating the organizing code of ethics, which in the process of dismissal of eight PPS were not in accordance with the Indonesian KPU Decree Number 337 of 2020 and several other KPU regulations.

"Hopefully with this case, the KPU Commissioner, especially Makassar City, can learn more carefully and wisely in carrying out his duties and authorities as the organizer of the election. It's a pity if this is the case, we have judged the PPS in the wrong way," he explained.

Eight PPS Tamalate through their attorney reported the actions of the Makassar City KPU Commissioner to the DKPP RI registered with case Number: 108-PKE-DKPP/VIII/2023.

Muhammad Nur Syahid Munsi as one of the eight PPS Tamalate expressed his disappointment over the decision given to one of the commissioners of the Makassar City KPU.

"I am a little disappointed, because the sanctions given by the DKPP are just a warning, not a stern warning or a permanent dismissal," he said.

According to him, someone who has been sanctioned before, with the same violation should get heavier sanctions than the previous sanctions. But the opposite is true, they get lighter sanctions.

"Even so, I still appreciate the results of the DKPP decision because what I understand is that the results of the DKPP decision are final and binding," he said.

The attorneys for eight PPS Tamalates have also reported the Makassar City KPU commissioners in the Administrative Court and the trial process is currently underway.

"Witnesses from our side, namely the complainant have also been questioned, hopefully, we can read the verdict as soon as possible and our client gets justice," he said.
