Chairman Of The Honorary Council Said PDIP Had Reminded Gibran To Be Firm In Party Direction

Chairman of the Honorary Council of the PDI-P (PDIP), Komarudin Watubun, said that Gibran Rakabuming Raka had been reminded to be upright in following the party's directions. The warning was given after the Mayor of Solo met with Prabowo Subianto on May 19.

Komarudin explained that at that time he had asked Gibran to clarify the meeting on May 22. However, no sanctions were given considering that President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) son was still a junior cadre even though the two met allegedly not in the capacity of the mayor and the Minister of Defense.

"At that time, as junior cadres, we did not impose sanctions. We gave advice to obey the party," Komarudin said in a written statement to reporters, Thursday, October 26.

Hearing this commemoration, Gibran called Komarudin accepted it and thanked him for being reminded. "And as a young cadre, promise to remain upright in accordance with the direction of the General Chair," he continued.

In addition, PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri has also often reminded her cadres not to do political dances. They were asked to go down to win the 2024 election and win Ganjar Pranowo who was promoted as a presidential candidate (candidate) on April 21.

Therefore, Gibran was deemed not to be perpendicular to the party's directives when registering as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) accompanying Prabowo Subianto who ran from the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM). His membership, continued Komarudin, was considered to have ended when he registered with the General Election Commission (KPU) on Wednesday, October 25.

"De facto ke membership Gibran di PDI Perjuangan telah berakhir setelah pendaftarannya secara resmi menjadi cawapres dari KIM," tegas Anggota DPR RI tersebut.

Komarudin assessed that this decision does not need to be shocked. Because, leaving or changing party direction is a common thing and many other figures can replace Gibran.

Even so, Komarudin and many party cadres were curious about the attitude taken by President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) son. Moreover, he often stated that he was upright, black and white had often been conveyed.

This incident is also considered by Komarudin to open the eyes of the public. In fact, they can compare it with Mahfud MD, which is now paired with Ganjar Pranowo.

"Who doubts Prof. Mahfud MD with his educational background, integrity, experience, and character. So calm and optimistic. Just keep working and go down," he said.

Previously reported, Gibran officially registered with Prabowo to the KPU. He advanced with the support of the Advanced Indonesia Coalition, which consisted of nine parties including the Gerindra Party, the Golkar Party, the National Mandate Party (PAN), and a number of other parties including the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI).

The couple has submitted the completeness of the files to the KPU. The day after, they have also carried out health checks at the Gatot Soebroto Army Hospital, Jakarta.
