Vice President: Israeli Attacks Are Not Self-Defense But Genocide

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin emphasized that the Israeli attack on the people in Palestine is no longer an act of self-defense from the Palestinian Hamas militant group, but has led to genocide.

"The world considers it to have exceeded the self-defense measure. It has carried out the massacre. The 'Genocean'," said Vice President Ma'ruf after inaugurating the Citra Borneo Indah (CBI) Group project in Central Kalimantan as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 25.

The vice president said Indonesia and a number of UN Security Council member countries had agreed that Israel's action to Palestine was a massacre and requested that the attack be stopped.

Arab countries, Ma'ruf said, could not intervene because the UN's decision through "two-state-solution" did not reach a mutual agreement due to the rejection from Israel and the United States.

Indonesia and other countries are trying to encourage dispute resolutions between Palestine and Israel to follow the "two-state-solution" decision at the United Nations forum.

"The problem is not only in the Arab world but in the UN forum itself so that existing decisions cannot be executed. This is what we have to do, if we can return it to the 'two state solution' and everyone can agree, maybe it can be completed," said Ma'ruf.

Indonesia and supporting countries are fighting for logistical assistance to be distributed immediately.

This was because previously the assistance compiled by the United Nations (UN) and the world community had been detained in Rafah, Egypt, the only distribution route to enter the Gaza Strip.

"In general, we also call for the shipments, which come a lot, especially through Cairo, Egypt, so that there are no obstacles," added the Vice President.

Based on data from the Palestinian Ministry of Health, more than 5,000 people have been killed in Gaza, Palestine as a result of Israel's backlash over the past two weeks.

Logistical needs for more than one million people who were squeezed amid attacks in the region are increasing.
