The East Kalimantan (Kaltim) Provincial Communication and Information Office (Diskominfo) has given an official warning to one of the social media accounts that uses the East Kalimantan Provincial Government logo for the support of presidential candidates in the 2024 General Election.

"My staff officially through the East Kalimantan Diskominfo account has reminded and gave time to replace the logo, but has not yet been responded to," said Head of the East Kalimantan Provincial Diskominfo, Muhammad Faisal in Samarinda, Tuesday, October 24, quoted by Antara.

Faisal said that the government logo should not be misused for political purposes.

"It's a government brand logo, so the rules are only used for official and non-official activities, but what is carried out by the East Kalimantan Provincial Government is not an institution or organization or other community. Moreover, for political purposes, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government must be neutral," said Faisal.

It is known that there is a tweet activity X belonging to supporters of one of the presidential candidates (candidates) who will compete in the 2024 presidential election.

This became troubling when the account used the identity of the East Kalimantan Provincial Government in the form of a logo as a profile photo.

Meanwhile, member of the East Kalimantan Bawaslu Province, Galeh Akbar Tanjung, said that his party had conducted a search related to a Twitter account on behalf of East Kalimantan which used the East Kalimantan Provincial Government logo in providing support to the prospective presidential/vice presidential pair Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md.

"We make sure that the account is not an official government account. We still want to try the take down mechanism for the account," he said.
