JAKARTA - A young man with the initials S (33) who was involved in illegal levies (extortion) against truck drivers in the Thamrin City area, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta was finally arrested by members of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanah Abang Metro Police. The perpetrator was arrested after the burglary went viral on Instagram social media.

"The motive is still being investigated. The perpetrators of extortion against the truck driver who went viral were arrested around Thamrin City," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanah Abang Metro Police, Kompol Kukuh Islami when confirmed, Monday, October 23.

The extortion incident occurred in the Thamrin City shopping area. A bus driver admitted that he was hit by Rp. 20,000 by the perpetrator. In the circulating narrative it was written "Is this an official retribution? We have paid for Thamrin City's parking and security to security of Rp. 150,000 (for) 1 bus. When he entered, he was asked for Rp. 20,000 by people in civilian clothes and his return was asked again. Even though this is a public road that anyone can pass.

In his daily life, the perpetrator with the initials S works as a food delivery man. However, he asked for illegal levies for additional income.

"The perpetrators work to deliver geprek chickens," he said.

Apart from the perpetrator's initials S, the police are still hunting down two other perpetrators who were caught in amateur videos.

"Two perpetrators are still being sought. We have only secured one person," he said.
