SUMBAR - The Padang City Government (Pemkot) opens online learning options if the fog caused by forest and land fires (karhutla) further causes a decline in air quality. To prevent acute respiratory tract infections (ARI) due to the smog that occurred, the Padang City Government also distributed 26 thousand masks to people in the city. "Today we distributed around 26 thousand masks to the public due to the decline in air quality in Padang City," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Padang City Health Office (Dinkes), Srikurnia Yati, said that since September 18-24 there had been an increase in ARI cases in the area which reached 1,063 cases. Then from September 24 to early October the ISPA case rose again to 1,400 cases. "We have issued a circular that requires wearing masks when leaving the house to prevent ARI," he said.
