There Is Still A Money Laundering Case, Judge Refuses To Open Accounts And Restore Lukas Enembe's Assets

JAKARTA - The panel of judges at the Corruption Court (Tipikor) at the Central Jakarta District Court rejected the request of the inactive Papua Governor Lukas Enembe regarding the opening of his account and returning his assets.

The panel of judges rejected Lukas Enembe's request because the accounts and assets were still needed in other cases, namely related to the money laundering crime (TPPU) which is being investigated by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

"So the defendant's request is related to unblocking the account of the defendant's wife, Yulce Wenda, and the account of the defendant's child, Astract Bona T. M. Enembe, as well as returning the defendant's assets including the gold that has been confiscated must be declared rejected," said Member Judge Dennie Arsan Fattria in a verdict hearing at the Jakarta Corruption Court, reported by ANTARA, Thursday, October 19.

Previously, Lukas Enembe asked the panel of judges to be acquitted of all charges and asked for his family account to be opened from blocking.

Lukas Enembe conveyed the request through his attorney, Petrus Bala Pattyona, in a personal duplicate during a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Wednesday (27/10).

"I beg that the panel of judges who tried my case can decide based on the facts that I am innocent and with that can release me from all charges," said Petrus reading out the personal duplication of Lukas Enembe.

The Jakarta Corruption Court judges sentenced Lukas Enembe to eight years in prison and a fine of Rp. 500 million, subsidiary to four months in prison.

Lukas Enembe was also sentenced to pay compensation in the amount of Rp. 19,690,793,900 at the latest within one month after the decision has permanent legal force or inkrah.

In addition, Lukas Enembe was sentenced to an additional sentence in the form of revocation of the right to be elected in public office for five years after he finished serving his main sentence.
