West Sumatra Prosecutor's Office Arrest Fugitive In Muara Bengkulu Jembatan Corruption Case

The West Sumatra High Prosecutor's (Kejati) Fugitive Arrest Team arrested Defrizal, a corruption convict who was a fugitive.

"The arrests were carried out by a joint arrest team from the Attorney General's Office, the West Sumatra High Prosecutor's Office, and the Padang District Attorney's Office," said Attorney General for Intelligence Mustaqpirin, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 18.

The prisoner is known to have settled and lived on Talao Mundam Street, Kasang, Batang Anai, Padangpariaman Regency, for about a year.

"The arrests were made based on an investigation carried out by the Prosecutor's Intelligence team, after the identity and whereabouts, an arrest was immediately made," he explained.

After being arrested, the inmate was then handed over to the Bengkulu High Prosecutor's Office to be executed according to the judicial decision.

Defrizal has been on the Bengkulu Prosecutor's Wanted List (DPO) since six years ago, namely in 2017.

The convict fled after the corruption case of the Muara I and II Jembatan Suspension Project for the 2007 '2009 Fiscal Year which dragged him into court.

At that time, Defrizal was sentenced to 6.5 years in prison, and a fine of Rp. 200 million, subsidiary to six months in prison.

The sentence is based on the decision of the Supreme Court Number: 553 K/Pid.Sus/2016 dated April 12, 2017.

Mustaqpirin said the corruption case in the Muara I and II suspension bridge construction project for the 2007 2009 Fiscal Year cost the state Rp7.5 billion.
