JAKARTA - Responds to the objection of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, to the results of the 9th G20 Parliamentary Speaker's (P20) Summit which was held in India received support from sharing parties. Puan on behalf of Indonesia expressed her objection to the parliamentary forum of the G20 countries because it did not bring about the Palestinian issue in the conclusion of the trial.

One of the supports was conveyed by International Law Expert, Prof. Hikmahanto Juwana. The objection that Puan expressed regarding the 9th joint statement of the P20 Summit brought a positive image for Indonesia because it puts forward the human side in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"It is very supportive (the objection of the DPR RI conveyed by Puan). P20 must be sensitive to events in Palestine because it can be resolved to the 3rd world war," said Prof Hikmahanto, Tuesday, October 17.

In the P20 session held in India last weekend, Puan together with parliamentary chairmen Turkey, China, South Africa and Russia expressed objections because the G20 parliamentary forum did not mention the Palestinian issue in the joint statement which was the conclusion of the session.

Whereas the 9th P20 Summit joint statement alluded to the issue of humanity in Ukraine which is at war with Russia. The objection was conveyed by Indonesia together with a number of countries through joint protection documents (joint objections).

The joint reserve was created because Indonesia, Turkey, China, South Africa and Russia felt that the P20 session was not balanced because it did not include the Palestinian issue in the joint statement. Hikmahanto also agreed with the DPR RI's decision with several parliaments of other countries considering that both the issue of Ukraine and Palestine should be seen from humanitarian glasses.

"Without wanting to determine who is right or wrong, the human side must put forward, namely the civilian people who are victims," said the Professor of the University of Indonesia (UI).

As is known, the escalation of the conflict between Israel and Palestine, which has been rising since the past week, has caused many casualties. Thousands of people from both sides died as a result of attacking each other. Tens of thousands of other people suffered injuries, as well as many civilians who were reported missing.

Therefore, Hikmahanto supports various steps by the world countries calling for a halt to the war between the Israeli military and the Hamas group in Palestine. Such as the efforts of the DPR and a number of G20 parliaments which encourage the Israeli-Palestinian humanitarian issue to be used as a joint formal decision in the P20 session which has sufficient role.

"Civil people who have never been combatants must be saved by way of the parties stopping attacks," said Prof. Hikmahanto.

The Chancellor of Jenderal Achmad Yani University also said that the Israel-Palestinian war not only had an impact on security situations in the Middle East region but also on the citizens of the world. For this reason, according to Hikmahanto, it is the obligation of the international community to participate in creating peace in Israel-Palestinian.

The war in Palestine will add to the global multi-crisis in which people in developing countries will be affected, he said.

Based on data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, the impact of the Israeli-Palestinian war has begun to be felt by the world community. Strengthening the conflict between the two countries has caused Brent' oil price to rise 4.22 percent and followed by WTI which rose by 4.33 percent.

World gold prices were also appreciated by 1.56 percent, and the United States dollar was also slightly strengthened. With conditions like this, world commodity prices will usually rise.

In addition, referring to Forbes data, many airline stocks have slumped, including Delta, United and American Airlines as well as European airlines such as the International Airlines Group (owners of British Airways) and Lufthansa.

These various impacts, according to Hikmahanto, are things that must be anticipated by the leaders of developed and developing countries. Because if this is allowed to continue, then the impact can spread to various other economic sectors.
