Often Meeting Other Parties, Golkar Denies Turning Away From Prabowo

JAKARTA - Golkar Party DPP chairman Dave Akbarshah Fikarno Laksono denied that his party turned to other presidential candidates. He emphasized that Golkar still supports the General Chair of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto as a presidential candidate in 2024.

He emphasized this direction of support because the Golkar Party was rumored to have turned its back to join the PDIP after the two big figures, Jusuf Kalla and Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, were met by the Chairperson of the PDIP DPP Puan Maharani, some time ago.

Apart from the PDIP, the General Chairperson of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, also recently met the Governor of East Java Khofifah Indar Parawansa from PKB, at the Prophet Muhammad SAW's Birthday Celebration and Berselawat Golkar in Tuban Square, East Java, last Tuesday.

"Golkar's position is still nominating Pak Prabowo as a presidential candidate for Indonesia for the period 2024 to 2029," said Dave Sunday, October 9.

Dave said Golkar was committed to the political agreement that had been agreed with the Advanced Indonesia Coalition.

"With Golkar stating the attitude that we support Pak Prabowo, we have made a commitment and a political agreement. And it must be fulfilled. This also shows political maturity that when we make a decision, we must uphold it until the result is successful," said Dave.

In addition, Dave also emphasized that Golkar is still carrying its general chairman, Airlangga Hartarto as a candidate for vice president for Prabowo.

"And we still offer Pak Airlangga as his (Prabowo) companion candidate for the upcoming elections," said Dave.
