Ngurah Rai Airport Ensures AIS Summit Will Not Disturb Regular Flights

DENPASAR - General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Handy Heryudhitiawan confirmed the arrival and departure of the head of state and delegation of the Archipelagic Island States Summit (AIS Summit) Forum will not interfere with regular flight movements at the airport.

"In terms of airport operations, we carried out intense coordination with the Airport Authority Office Region IV and Perum LPPNPI (AirNav) Ngurah Rai Branch to arrange flight schedules so that the arrival and departure time of the delegation's flight would not provide problems on the regular flight schedule," said Handy, Friday, October 6.

Handy said the airport had prepared all facilities and was ready to serve state guests and delegates who would arrive on October 8, 2023.

Even though the facilities have been maximized, he still urges passengers or regular service users to arrive at the airport 2-3 hours before departure time, to anticipate traffic congestion around because the delegation's vehicle will pass.

Currently, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport serves an average of 63-65 thousand domestic and international passengers and 390 aircraft movements every day. For this reason, strong collaboration and synergy are needed with all stakeholders in the airport environment and also community participation in ensuring the smooth operation of the airport in order to support the AIS Summit," he said.

To ensure that airport operations continue to run normally, his party will also arrange the arrival and departure of state guests and delegates at the VVIP Building, VIP Building, as well as domestic and international terminals.

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport did not work alone, during the AIS Summit they were also assisted by security in the airport area by 961 Airport Security personnel, assisted by the Airport Area Police, Indonesian Air Force, Bali Police, Paspampres, and traditional villages.

Especially for the AIS Summit itself, the airport has also prepared 16 parking stands for aircraft parking space or Parking Stand with the distribution of eight parking stands in the north and south each allocated for aircraft carrying heads of state or delegates.

Head of Regional Airport Authority IV Agustinus Budi Hartono added that his party had prepared surveillance and ensured that the infrastructure at the airport was ready, as well as General Manager of Perum LPPNPI (AirNav) Ngurah Rai Branch Suryadi Joko Wiratmo who had regulated air traffic.

"AirNav Indonesia is ready to provide service support, both upon arrival and departure from AIS Summit participants at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in accordance with the coordination that has been carried out with aviation stakeholders led by the Airport Authority," he said.

"We have ensured the readiness of the human resources, facilities and procedures and their contigencies. In regulating air traffic, we also try our best so that services to VVIP do not have much effect on regular flight arrangements," continued Suryadi.
