Bali Police Reconstruction Of Resort Destruction Cases In Karangasem

The Bali Police carried out the reconstruction of the case of the destruction and burning of the Detigane Resort in Bugbug, Karangasem, Bali, by presenting 16 suspects, the prosecutor's office and the legal team of the suspects.

"There were approximately three parts, 28 scenes. What is highlighted is of course the role of each perpetrator, so who is doing what and witnessed by whom, because one of the elements is jointly," said Head of Sub-Directorate III Jatanras Ditreskrimum Bali Police AKBP Endang Tri Purwanto in Denpasar, Monday, October 2.

Endang said the reconstruction was divided into three parts. In the first part, the reconstruction of the criminal act of destruction together and/or entering the yard of people without permission was carried out by three suspects. There were 16 scenes demonstrated.

In the second part, the reconstruction of the arson crime and or entering the yard of people without permission by demonstrating five scenes. Meanwhile, at the end, there were seven scenes of criminal acts jointly entering the prohibition of people without permission.

From the statements of the suspects, explained Endang, there are no indications that there are other parties who provoked the suspects who are residents of Bugbug Village, Karangasem Regency, Bali.

"While we haven't headed there yet because from the examination of the suspect, no one mentioned any kind of action from the provocateur," he said when asked about the possibility of an intellectual actor ordering the suspects to carry out the vandalism.

He stated that the suspects admitted to committing the act on the basis of spontaneity without any ordering, headed to the location and then carried out the destruction.

Regarding the request for a suspension of detention of the suspect, Endang said investigators were still reviewing it with the Bali High Prosecutor's Office.

"It is still being studied because we are coordinating with the prosecutor's office, considering that there are still additional investigations against the perpetrators," he said.

Endang added that the Bali Police Ditreskrimum investigators continued to complete the case file considering the time limit for the detention of the suspect.

Previously, on August 30, 2023, a number of residents of Bugbug Village, Karangasem, Bali, visited the Delitiga Neano Resort. The crowd who refused to build the resort entered the resort area which was still under construction and destroyed a number of facilities to arson.

Residents rejected the construction of the resort because its location was near the temple where they were worshiping. Not accepting the actions of the resident, the contractor reported the incident to the Bali Police.
