JAKARTA - Officers managed to identify the bodies of two residents of the shophouse fire victims on Jalan Setia Kawan, RT 02/07, Duri Pulo Village, Gambir District, Central Jakarta.

"The victim died named Puput (22) and Karyati (38). Both are female," Gambir Sub-district Head Andri Ferdian told VOI, Thursday, September 28.

The bodies of the two have been taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM). Meanwhile, one other victim has not been identified.

The other three fire victims who suffered serious burns have been taken to Tarakan Hospital for intensive care.

"The three victims suffered serious burns with male Rafa (7), male Darkian (49) and male Slamet Wahyudi (40). All three were treated at Tarakan Hospital," he said.

Meanwhile, the alleged cause of the fire in the two shophouses was due to a gas leak from the shophouse which was used as a warteg. The existence of gas leaks was also confirmed by residents and local RTs.

"It is indicated that the fire started with a restaurant that was suspected of having had a sudden gas leak. The fire spread and immediately spread to the side shop, namely the photocopy shop. The building owner is estimated to have suffered a loss of more than Rp. 150 million," said Head of Central Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Asril Rizal to VOI.
