DPR Commission II: Registration For Presidential And Vice Presidential Candidates Agreed On October 19-25

JAKARTA - Member of Commission II of the House of Representatives Guspardi Gaus revealed that the registration of presidential and vice-presidential candidates at the General Elections Commission (KPU) will still be held on 19 October. However, the closing of registration time was accelerated or advanced from November 25 to October 25.

This means that the candidate pair registration schedule will be carried out on October 19-25. Meanwhile, the KPU had suggested that it be held on October 10-16.

"Forward, previously 19 October-25 November, now 19 October-25 October. So the KPU previously submitted 10-16 October, then we Commission II asked for two options. One option is on 10-16, now after discussion everything is agreed, both from the government, KPU and election organizers as well as from the DPR itself agreed that the acceleration was carried out from October 19 to October 25, not November," Guspardi told reporters, Wednesday, September 20.

The schedule, he continued, had been agreed in a consignment meeting between Commission II and the KPU, Bawaslu and DKPP as election organizers. So it remains only to make a decision through a working meeting with the government.

"Consinyering is not deciding, but equating understanding, accelerating the registration of presidential candidates has been agreed last night on October 19-October 25," he said.

The PAN legislator said that all factions had agreed to accelerate registration from October 19 to October 25.

"It's just a matter of course (determined), if the consignment is not a vehicle to be able to make decisions. The one who can make the decision is a meeting at commission II according to the invitation we submitted," he concluded.

To note, Commission II of the DPR and election organizers held a meeting related to the discussion of PKPU and Perbawaslu this afternoon.

Then, Commission II of the DPR together with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the KPU, Bawaslu, and DKPP will hold a meeting related to the Pilkada Perppu tonight at 19.00 WIB.
