Fire Of Manna 18 Ship In Bangkalan Waters Successfully Extinguished

BANGKALAN - The ship carrying Manna 18's goods caught fire shortly after repairs were made at the shipyard located on the Coast of Kamal Beach, Bangkalan Regency.

"It happened since Monday (18/9) night at around 20.00 WIB, and officers from the fire department have been deployed since last night, but apologize, apart from officers and employees are prohibited from entering," said an officer at the coastal shipyard in Kamal District, Heri, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 19.

According to him, the ship that caught fire did not belong to the shipyard's mechanical company, but the ship carrying goods from outside the island.

"Come here to repair it, because there was damage to the ship's deck. The fire was not when it was repaired, but afterwards, the location was not at the repair site, already at sea," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bangkalan Satpol-PP Fire Department, Multazam, said that his party received a report of a ship fire at around 22.48 WIB, Monday (18/9).

"Two firefighters were deployed, but when trying to extinguish it experienced a bit of difficulty, because the location was in the water and the fire was in the middle deck, the car could not be close to the object," he said.

At around 02.45 WIB, joint officers from the fire fighting team and the Indonesian Navy managed to extinguish the fire, but in the morning at around 08.00 WIB the flames spread again.

"We went back down to the location to extinguish it, the fire was quite big, at night we decided to ask for help from Surabaya, but until 13.00 WIB the aid never came," said Multazam.

The ship fire was thought to have been caused by sparks while welding the hull. There were no casualties from the incident, but the loss is estimated at Rp. 1 billion.

The explanation of the Bangkalan Head of the Sapol-PP Fire Department is different from the release of the shipyard officers which mentioned the fire after repairs.
