JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information has opened a complaint channel for the complaint website number.id which can be used by the public to complain about cellular numbers indicated to be scamming or fraud.

"The Ministry of Communication and Information opens a complaint channel for blocking numbers, through the complaint website number.id which is specifically devoted to receiving public complaints for fraudulent numbers," said Director General of Post and Information Administration of the Ministry of Communication and Information Wayan Toni Supriyanto as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 19.

Blocking numbers through complaints on indications of fraud has a legal basis, namely Regulation of the Minister of Communication and Information Technology Number 5 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of Telecommunications. People who wish to file complaints can include evidence in the form of voice recordings or screenshots (screenshots) from numbers indicated to commit fraud.

After the public reports fraud, officers from the Directorate General of PPIKemenkominfo verify and if they meet indications of fraud, the Ministry of Communication and Information will ask cellular operators to immediately block the related cellular numbers.

Not only through access to websites, the Ministry of Communication and Information also provides complaint channels through the aid center with number 159 to make it easier for the public to complain about telephone numbers that are often used to cheat.

"From the blocking data for the number we collected, based on the complaint for the last three months from 2,970 complaints that came in, there were 2,970 numbers that were finally blocked," said Wayan.

Selain bisa digunakan untuk melaporkan nomor yang terindikasi penipuan, aduan nomor.id juga bisa dimanfaatkan masyarakat untuk mengecek apakah nomor yang menghubunginya merupakan nomor pengamor atau tidak.

Wayan said related to fraud that uses cellular numbers in instant messaging services, the Directorate General of PPI cooperated with the Directorate General of Applications and Information of the Ministry of Communication and Information to handle it.

For those who want to report fraud through instant messaging applications on smartphones such as WhatsApp, Telegram, or similar services, the public can file complaints through the complaint.id website managed by the Directorate General of Aptika.
