East Java KONI Summoned By Jombang Police Regarding The Death Of Boxing Athletes From Bondowoso

Jombang Police sent a summons to KONI East Java for questioning regarding the death of a boxing athlete from Bondowoso, East Java, Farhat Mika Rahel Riyanto, during the 2023 East Java Porprov VIII match. The letter was sent to an organization, not an individual.

"We have sent the letter today to KONI East Java for questioning," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Jombang Police, AKP Aldo Febrianto, Monday, September 18.

Aldo said information from the East Java KONI was important. With the hope that the KONI organization will later appoint competent parties to explain the regulations and SOPs for the implementation of Porprov, especially in the field of boxing.

"To explain regarding regulations and SOPs for the implementation of porprov, especially in the field of boxing. Later it will depend on KONI who is competent to go to the Resort Police," he said.

Before calling KONI, he admitted that police officers had collected information on the family of the Farhat boxer in Bondowoso. The data excavation is still related to the match that Farhat played while in Jombang.

"Already (examining family information). The family has received the death of his son," he said.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the East Java KONI, M. Nabil, admitted that he had not received a summons from the Jombang Police. "Not yet," he said briefly.

Farhat Mika Rahel Riyanto, a boxing athlete from Bondowoso died after competing Monday (11/9) in a boxing match at the East Java VIII/2023 Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) event in Jombang, East Java. Farhat was declared dead after receiving treatment at a local hospital, on Tuesday morning, September 12, 2023. In this incident, Farhat was diagnosed with bleeding in the brain.
