YOGYAKARTA - Investment Minister/BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia said that compensation for the people affected by the investment would be adjusted to the assets owned by the community. So how many government compensation offers for residents of the island of Rempang?

He explained that the adjusted compensation money was calculated from the rights that had been inaugurated and would be given to the public.

Details of compensation, namely land with an area of 500 square m, already with a rights base, type 45 house at a price of Rp120 million, waiting for the transition to the house to be Rp1, 2 million per life and house rental money of Rp1, 2 million.

"What I must convey this time is that for people whose rights are already there and the building is good, which is not of type 45," Bahlil explained when reviewing Pulau Rempang as reported by Antara, Week, September 17, 2023.

"For example, the building is good but in fact the house is valued at Rp. 350 million, it will be seen by the KJPP (Public Appraisal Service Office), and the difference will be completed by BP Batam," he said again.

For him, compensation does not only cover houses, the government also offers compensation for other ownership.

"Including cages, plants, canoes, all of this will be priced fairly according to the mechanism and basis of the calculation," said Bahlil.

Not only adjustments to compensation, in the coordination meeting, his party also agreed that the process of handling Rempang must be carried out in gentle ways.

"We continue to give awards to people who have been there for generations and we have to communicate well as it is. We are both villagers, so we have to talk about it," he said.

After that, his party also stalled the revocation of permits for some people who built businesses or owned land in Rempang.

"This must also require special handling," he said.

He also said that he would hold a meeting every week with the Governor and BP Batam to regulate the acceleration of regional development.

"Rest assured that this is an investment for the welfare of the people. This results in jobs, increasing income, and residents that we will shift from the island, they will also be given their rights," said Bahlil.
