KoTAWARINGIN - East Kotawaringin Regent Halikinnor asked the public not to be provoked by the agrarian conflict that occurred in Pebaca Village, Cempaga Hulu District, Monday, September 11. This conflict has claimed victims. Halikinnor admitted that he was very concerned about the land dispute conflict. He has asked officers from the sub-district head to intervene to calm the residents. "I am concerned about the incident, that's why I ask the sub-district head to accompany the police chief there to calm the situation and I ask our people in particular not to be provoked, not to be easily provoked by things that trigger conflict," he said in Sampit, Central Kalimantan, Antara, Wednesday, September 13. According to information obtained, clashes between two groups of residents at the disputed oil palm plantation site caused one death and three people were injured. Halikinnor explained that the dispute over oil palm plantation land occurred between two people who were still brothers. The entrepreneur from Medan invested in East Kotawaringin. This dispute has been going on for a long time and is handled by customary law and positive law. This family problem recently involved the community, both working in the garden and related other things. Halikinnor asked and appealed to residents not to be easily provoked by problems like this. Moreover, this dispute is still being processed in court so that all should refrain and wait for the results of the court's decision. He also received information that the residents involved in the incident were not local people, but from outside. For this reason, he asked everyone to take part in maintaining the situation in East Kotawaringin which is currently conducive.

"Hopefully, from the outside of my mind. Don't let a safe and conducive atmosphere become no longer conducive and it can interfere with investment in our area in East Kotawaringin. That should be handled by the Police in accordance with applicable provisions and laws and regulations," said Halikinnor.
