YOGYAKARTA - The Indonesian government continues to remind traders or business people to immediately complete their halal certificate obligations in 2024. Vice President KH Ma'ruf Amin asked all parties to continue to carry out halal certification as stipulated in Law Number 33 of 2014 concerning Halal Product Guarantee. So what products must be halal certification?

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said that there is only one year left for halal certification. He also said that all parties must work together and focus on accelerating the halal certification process. Therefore, business owners must know what products must be halal certification.

Halal certification is important for the sake of smoothness and comfort in trade activities. The Ministry of Religion's Halal Product Guarantee Agency (BPJPH) said there are three product groups that must be certified halal in 2024.

The three types of products that must be halal certification are food and beverage products; raw materials, food supplements, and auxiliary materials for food and beverage products, as well as slaughter products and slaughter services.

"These three product groups must have been certified halal on October 17, 2024. If they have not been certified and circulated in the community, there will be sanctions," said Head of BPJPH of the Ministry of Religion Muhammad Aqil Irham, in early 2023.

Traders who do not register for halal certification will receive strict sanctions. In accordance with the provisions contained in Government Regulation (PP) Number 39 of 2021, the sanctions that will be imposed range from written warnings, administrative fines, to withdrawal of goods from circulation.

The public of business actors has been advised by the government for a long time to register or take care of halal certification of their products. So if until the specified deadline, namely October 17, 2024, it still does not take care of halal certification, it will be sanctioned.

Kiai Ma'ruf appealed to all parties to focus and cooperate collaboratively to accelerate the halal certification process from the upstream to downstream sector of the production chain. He gave an example that halal certification must be applied from halal meat sources in slaughterhouses to culinary tourist attractions in various regions.

"There is an obligation to halal certification for products circulating and traded in Indonesia. There is one more year left to complete the obligation for halal certificates for all products in Indonesia," said Kiai Ma'ruf Amin at the LPPOM MUI Halal Award Award Award 2023 on Monday (4/9).

Vice President Ma'ruf Amin said that there are a number of steps that need to be taken to ensure the success of accelerating halal certification in Indonesia. Here are some steps that need to be applied:

First, it is necessary to increase literacy and provide education to business actors and the public regarding the importance of managing halal certification.

The second step is to improve the competence of human resources (HR) that are competent in the field of halal certification. Human resources also need to be encouraged to master digital technology to provide easier access to services.

The next step is the importance of collaboration and cooperation between various parties who have an interest in achieving the halal certification target by 2024.
