Very Likely To Get Closer To PDIP, Democrat: Megawati Never Goes To SBY

Deputy Chairperson of the Democratic Party Benny K Harman said it was very possible for his party to join the coalition of supporters of the PDI-P presidential candidate, Ganjar Pranowo.

Because according to him, the relationship between PDIP General Chair Megawati Soekarnoputri and the Chairman of the Upper House of the Democratic Party Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) is still well established.

In fact, said Benny, SBY was open to meeting Megawati. He said there was no problem between the two former presidents.

"It is very possible. I think we are very happy if Mrs. Megawati is willing to accept Mr. SBY. Mr. SBY is ready, and Mrs. Megawati has never been bad with us, has never been bad with the Democrats, has never been bad with Mr. SBY, right?," said Benny at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 5.

According to Benny, SBY, who had served as Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs in the Gotong Royong Cabinet, had great respect for Megawati.

"It was Pak SBY who asked the late Taufiq Kiemas to become chairman of the MPR. And I know exactly that the parties who joined the coalition supported Pak SBY at that time were invited by Pak SBY, and Pak SBY asked firmly to fully support Mr. Taufiq Kiemas to become chairman of the MPR. And I witnessed that, so we have no problems," explained Benny.

Apart from PDIP, Benny said, Democrats also have the opportunity to join the Prabowo Subianto coalition. Similar to Megawati, said Benny, the relationship between her party leadership and the Gerindra chairman is also good.

"It's very possible, very likely (to join PDIP or Gerindra). So now 50 percent, 50 percent. Pak Prabowo and Pak Ganjar, right, everything is good. Our relationship with Mrs. Megawati is also good, Mr. Prabowo is also good," said the member of Commission III of the DPR.

Nevertheless, Benny said the decision to form a coalition would be decided by a meeting of the upper house of the Democratic Party which would be held in the near future. So that the DPP Democrats are still waiting for directions to join the PDIP or Gerindra coalition.

"We don't know yet, we are waiting for the upper house to be given full authority by our party constitution to determine which party will cooperate with," he concluded.
