Riau Provincial Government Builds 4 Roads In Accordance With President Jokowi's Instructions

PeKANBARU - Riau Provincial Government built four road units in Riau through Presidential Instruction (Inpres) No. 3 of 2023 concerning the Acceleration of Increasing Connectivity of 18 km of Regional Roads with the implementation of the National Road Hall in Riau.

"The four roads include Jalan Simpang Bunut-Puluk Meranti with a length of 5.5 km," said Head of the Riau Land Settlement and Housing Public Works Agency (PUPR-PKPP), M Arief Setiawan in Pekanbaru as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 5.

Arief said that the road physical work based on the proposal of the Governor of Riau Syamsuar based on Presidential Instruction No. 3 had already begun to be carried out by colleagues from the hall, including Jalan Teluk Pijali (Kubu)-Panipahan (Batas Sumut) 3.4 Km, Jalan Folding Fabric-Lubuk Agung 5 Km, and Jalan Simpang Barang-Lubuk Gaung 4.5 Km.

He said that the road work on the four sections was financed by the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) through the Ministry of PUPR amounting to Rp138,868,396,000.

"The amount of the road construction budget of IDR 138,868,396,000 is part of the total road in Riau, which is IDR 384,511,398,900. Because there is also a city district proposing road construction through the Presidential Instruction," he said.

However, Riau was greatly helped by the gradual assistance for the four roads in order to increase the availability of provincial and city district roads in Riau Province.

In 2024, his party will also re-propose other provincial roads in urban districts, including for the completion of the proposed road section which will be carried out in 2024.

President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) issued Presidential Instruction No. 3 of 2022 concerning the Acceleration of Improvement of Regional Road Connectivity was issued in order to accelerate the increase in regional road connectivity to provide maximum benefits in encouraging the national and regional economy, reducing national logistics costs.

In addition, the Presidential Instruction on the road is also to connect and integrate with economic centers, and help equalize steady road conditions, as an effort to support the achievement of the 2020-2024 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) target.

The Presidential Instruction, which can be accessed on the JDIH Cabinet Secretariat website, is addressed to the Minister of National Development Planning/Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas); Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR); Minister of Finance (Menkeu); Minister of Home Affairs as well as governors, regents, and mayors.

The instructions given are to take coordinated and integrated steps according to their respective duties, functions, and authorities for:

First, carrying out connected and integrated regional road construction activities, especially to support the productivity of industrial estates, tourism areas, plantation areas, agricultural areas, and other productive areas;

Second, carrying out the regional road construction activities is to increase road availability, especially around strategic industrial areas, including Morowali, Konawe, Weda Bay, and Tanjung Selor to anticipate the growth of slum areas and regional roads with unsteady conditions.

"Next, carry out road construction around the Nusantara Capital (IKN) area by widening roads to anticipate traffic jams. Planning and providing budgets, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and controlling activities to accelerate the improvement of regional road connectivity and overcome obstacles and obstacles in the implementation of acceleration activities to increase regional road connectivity," he said.
