Tesla Autonomous Taxis Operating Soon?

JAKARTA - Tesla CEO Elon Musk has long had an ambitious vision to create fully autonomous vehicles that do not require human interference at all. This project is believed to be an important milestone in the transformation of the automotive industry.

Elon Musk's big move towards the future was marked by the launch of Cybercab and Robovan, a fleet of taxis and autonomous vans introduced last October. In fact, at the time of its launch Elon Musk claimed that this Tesla Cybercab autonomous taxi without a steering wheel would be safer and the price was also cheap.

On the other hand, despite having recorded that much progress in the development of self-consistent autonomous vehicles cannot be separated from challenges. Complex regulations, security issues, and public trust in this technology are the main obstacles that Tesla must overcome.

However, the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States (US) could be a breath of fresh air smoothing this ambition, especially since he was also given the position of leading the Government's Department of Efficiency because of his loyalty to support Trump during this year's presidential election.

Launching Bloomberg, Friday, December 20, the latest news about Elon Musk's continuation of ambitions is that of the initial meeting of Tesla Inc with the city of Austin, Texas, regarding plans to implement its autonomous vehicle technology. If all goes well, Tesla hopes to launch this vehicle on Texas street next year, making Austin a pioneer in the use of a fleet of driverless cars.

According to an email obtained by Bloomberg through a public note request, a Tesla employee has communicated with the Austin City autonomous vehicle task force since May this year. The discussion focuses on setting safety standards that Tesla's autonomous vehicles must meet before being operational in the city. This initiative is the first step to determine Austin's feasibility as the first location in Texas to adopt Tesla's cutting-edge technology.

If this plan is successful, although it is still in its early stages, this step is an important signal that the future of driverless vehicles is getting closer.
