Bulungan Police Chief Kombes Agus Nugraha said the incident began when Pajero, driven by RPS, drove from Malinau to Tanjung Selor. This Pajero hit a resident who was pushing an oil palm cart.

"The perpetrator and the residents took the victim to the puskesmas. However, the victim was declared dead," said Kombees Agus Nugraha, Monday, September 4.

After escorting the victim, the perpetrator turned himself in to the Sekatak Police. On the same day, the RPS who served at the Malinau Police Station was immediately secured to the Bulungan Police Headquarters.

"The victim's family, who did not accept the incident, went to the Sekatak Police Station to find the perpetrator," he said.

Because they could not find the perpetrators, residents then forced their way into the Sekatak Police to destroy them by breaking the glass and several facilities and infrastructure (sarpras).

"The rioting occurred at around 15.45 WITA, the masses damaged the sekatak police headquarters by burning the floor carpet of the police room by watering the suspected type of pertalite fuel and throwing stones at the glass of the police mako and the SPKT room of the sekatak police," he added.

Luckily, the fire was extinguished by Sekatak Police personnel using Apar (light fire extinguishers). In addition, several residents also beat the Sekatak Police Chief AKP Yulius Heri Subroto who tried to calm the crowd, resulting in bruises on his face.

"The police chief suffered bruises on several parts of his face. At that time the masses then moved to the scene of the accident (TKP). Residents again carried out damage to the vehicle the perpetrator was driving," he explained.

Agus said the vehicle the perpetrator was driving was not an official car.

"It's a private car. Not an official car," he said.

For the perpetrators of the accident, continued Agus, he has been named a suspect.

"We have examined two witnesses, SPDP or notification letter for the start of the investigation has also been submitted to the prosecutor's office," he said.

Meanwhile, the vandalism case is still making persuasive efforts. Regarding the case of abuse against police personnel, the police chief has made a police report.

"We have examined about 10 internal witnesses. Currently, we are still waiting for the results of the traditional deliberation process between the perpetrator and the victim. Our personnel also helped the victim's costs until the funeral process," he said.
