Fire 29-2 Mount Sumbing Still On Fire, BPBD: Again Dry Season All Dry Don't Play With Fire

WONOSOBO - Volunteers from elements of the TNI, Polri, BPBD, Perhutani, and the community as of Saturday afternoon are still struggling to extinguish the fire in the 29-2 plot forest area of Mount Sumbing in Wonosobo Regency, Central Java.

Head of BPBD Wonosobo Regency Bambang Triyono in Wonosobo, Saturday, said that there were still hotspots in plots 29-2, while in plots 29-1 it had been extinguished.

"The Banyumudal area has been extinguished, but in the Lamuk area there are still hotspots. Therefore, we shifted to the west in Lamuk," he said.

He said that given the distance or range of fires with a height of 2,500 to 2,900 meters above sea level, fire hoses were not possible.

"We are doing outages manually using the fanfare system and other equipment that we have prepared," he said.

In addition, volunteers made rings or barriers to limit the fire so that it does not spread.

"With the insulation, it is hoped that the fire will not spread to others," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, September 2.

He mentioned that the location that burned in plots 29-1 was around 221.5 hectares, then in plots 29-2 the raw area was 18.7 hectares.

The plants burned in the plots are grass and logs. The location of the fire is far from the residents' houses so it is safe.

He hopes that the community and climbers will not play with fire in forest areas because in this long dry season, many grass and trees have dried up so that they are prone to fires.
