TNBTS Center Closes Part Of Tourism Access To Mount Bromo

The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Center (BB TNBTS) has partially closed access to the Mount Bromo tourist area, in East Java, due to forest and land fires that occurred in the savana caldera Tengger.

The Head of Administration Section of the Center for TNBTS Septi Eka Wardhani said, the closure of part of Bromo tourism access was carried out for the smooth outage of burned areas. "For the smoothness of extinguishing efforts and observing the safety of visitors, then Bromo tourist visits were partially closed," said Septi as reported by ANTARA, Friday, September 1. Septi explained, tourist access through the Jemplang entrance, Coban Trisula, Malang Regency and Senduro Lumajang Regency was closed to visitors, in order to facilitate the fire extinguishing process by joint officers. According to him, visitors can still enter the Bromo tourist area through the Cemoro Lawang gates of Probolinggo and Wonokitri Regencies, Pasuruan Regency with a number of restrictions for areas that tourists can visit. "The area that may be visited is starting from Pasir Ocean towards Mount Batok, Bungkah Dingclik to View Point Pananjakan," he said. As for the direction of Watu Singo to Jemplang as well as Puncak B29 originating from Argosari, Lumajang was closed for tourist visits. The closure was enforced starting from September 1, 20.00 WIB until an undetermined time limit. "We appeal to the public, visitors, and tourism service actors to keep the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Area from forest fires taking into account the use of fire for safety, security, and mutual comfort," he said. The fire incident was first known to occur in the Bantengan area which is located around the border of the National Park Management resort (PTN). Trisula Coban area and the resort of PTN Ranupani region on August 29, 2023 at 23.30 WIB.

TNBTS Center officers followed up by examining the location presented by the community. Officers confirmed that there was a source of fire on the northern slopes of Malang-Lumajang road access, and spread to the savana area and Jemplang block. The fire extinguishing effort was carried out by a joint team derived from a number of elements, namely the Fire Care Community (MPA) Ranupani Village, Ngadas Village and Argosari Village, TNI and Polri. The TNBTS Center is still identifying the causes and areas affected by the fire. All parties are asked to be careful considering the very dry weather conditions the impact of the dry season and parts of savana dry up due to the phenomenon of upas dew.
