Strategy For Handling Jakarta DLH Air Pollution (ANTARA)

YOGYAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) through the Environment Agency (DLH) invites representatives of various elements of government, non-governmental institutions, academics and the general public to cooperate in implementing the finalized Air Pollution Control Strategy (SPPU).

"Today's event is an event for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to explain the strategies and plans for air pollution control and raise support from relevant stakeholders, as well as produce collaboration to improve air quality in the capital," said Afan Adriansyah Idris, Assistant for Development and Environment of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Secretary, in a Public Expose for Air Pollution Control Strategy at DKI Jakarta City Hall.

Launching from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government website, SPPU, or previously Grand Design Air Pollution Control is a comprehensive document containing strategies and action plans to overcome due to air pollution in Jakarta. SPPU will be a guide for the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government for the next 8 years until 2030.

"This series of strategies includes steps to control air pollution from upstream to downstream, ranging from policy development and revision to supervision and law enforcement," said Asep Kuswanto, Head of DLH DKI Jakarta.

SPPU contains a series of strategies for improving air pollution control governance, as well as reducing air polluting emissions from moving sources or immovable sources. In it, there are more than 70 action plans whose implementation requires cross-sectoral cooperation.

Asep added that the series of strategies in the SPPU is one form of steps taken by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government in making decisions on public lawsuits regarding air pollution, which have been decided by the Central Jakarta District Court on September 16, 2021. The SPPU preparation process also linked inputs from various parties, listed through public consultations in December 2021, as well as internal dialogue with the agencies that were adrift on August 18, 2022.

"The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government through the Environment Agency is committed to being able to implement SPPU by involving the participation of all parties, as mandated by the decision of the citizen lawsuit," concluded Asep.
